The Auburn City Council took the following actions at its June 7, 2022, meeting:
Postponed the appointment of a new Ward 4 councilperson. The City Council will consider the appointment of an interim Ward 4 councilperson to serve through Nov. 7, or the end of the current term, at its meeting on June 21. The seat was vacated by Brett Smith, whose family has moved. State law requires five votes of approval for a nominee before an appointment can be made. A move to postpone the vote was made at the June 7 meeting after no nominee received the required five votes.
Approved a conditional use request for a Taco Bell on North Donahue. The council approved a conditional use for a restaurant with a drive-thru at 1365 N. Donahue Drive, located next to the gas station on the corner of Donahue and Shug Jordan Parkway. The restaurant is planned to be a Taco Bell. The use depends on vehicular access from the adjacent private driveway, which must be negotiated by the private parties who own the properties.
Authorized the renewal of the City’s work order management software. The council authorized a renewal of Cityworks, a work order management and permitting solution software, for one year in the amount of $122,000. City staff rely on Cityworks to manage project reviews, permits and work orders, among other things, and the software helps to connect staff to issues residents report via the Auburn FixIt app.
The council also:
- Approved a professional services agreement for the new Environmental Services and Public Works facility in the amount of $89,865.
- Approved the payment of overrun costs for the Cox Road Widening Project in the amount of $212,615.83.
- Approved a contract for the procurement and installation of wayfinding for the Douglas J. Watson Municipal Complex in the amount of $34,200.
