Auburn’s Jake Albert and Jackson Koivun were recognized on Apr. 8 with Southeastern Conference weekly golf awards, marking the third time this season both athletes have received these honors.
The continued recognition highlights the strong performances of both golfers during the current college golf season. Their achievements underscore Auburn’s position as a leading team in collegiate men’s golf.
Albert was named SEC Freshman of the Week for the fourth time this year. Only one other Auburn rookie has won it more often—Koivun, who earned five such awards during the previous season. At last weekend’s Mason Rudolph Championship, Albert finished tied for third at six under par, his third top-five finish in five appearances and his seventh consecutive top-20 result. Both Albert and Koivun were Auburn’s lowest scorers at the event, contributing to a decisive victory for their team.
Koivun was awarded SEC Golfer of the Week for the eighth time in his career after winning individual medalist honors at Mason Rudolph with a score of twelve under par. He recorded just three bogeys along with one eagle and thirteen birdies to secure his ninth career win by two strokes. This marks Koivun’s fourth win in six starts since February.
Looking ahead, Albert and Koivun will lead Auburn into their final regular-season event at the Ford Collegiate tournament in Richmond Hill, Georgia, scheduled for April 13-14.
