Auburn Athletics Director John Cohen announced on Apr. 6 that Auburn University and gymnastics head coach Jeff Graba have mutually agreed to part ways after a tenure of 16 seasons.

The decision marks the end of a significant period for Auburn’s gymnastics program, which saw notable achievements under Graba’s leadership. The search for a new head coach will begin immediately, according to the announcement.

Cohen said, “We thank Coach Graba for his leadership over the past 16 seasons and wish him the best moving forward. Jeff oversaw a period of significant growth in all areas of the gymnastics program while developing outstanding Auburn women.”

During his time at Auburn, Graba led the Tigers to 14 regional appearances and three NCAA Championship appearances, including reaching the Final Four in 2022 and advancing to the Super Six in 2015. His athletes earned a combined total of 37 All-America honors and 45 All-SEC recognitions. Notably, Olympic gold medalist Sunisa Lee received a program-best ten All-America honors during her time with Auburn under Graba’s coaching.

Graba expressed gratitude for his years at Auburn by saying, “I want to thank Auburn University for taking a chance on me 16 years ago. Being at the helm of this program has been an honor and it has been a privilege to coach this team. I am proud of the opportunity our coaching staff has had to help our student-athletes achieve their goals and dreams – whether it be competing in the Olympics, or for an SEC or National Championship. Thank you Auburn for welcoming the Graba family and giving Bridget and me the chance to raise our family here in Auburn – including two daughters receiving Auburn University degrees.”

Throughout his career at Auburn, Graba was recognized as Southeastern Coach of the Year in both 2014 and 2015 as well as SEC co-Coach of the Year in 2012.

As Auburn begins its search for new leadership within its gymnastics program, observers will watch closely how this transition shapes future success.
