Auburn University announced on Apr. 17 the addition of Santa Clara transfer Bukky Oboye to its men’s basketball team for the 2026-27 season.
The signing brings a new player with significant experience to the Tigers, as Oboye started in 34 games last season for a Broncos team that achieved a 26-9 record and participated in the NCAA Tournament. He has two years of eligibility remaining at Auburn.
Head Coach Steven Pearl said, “We are extremely excited to welcome Bukky Oboye into the Auburn Family. He’s one of the most physically gifted prospects you’ll find – an elite runner and leaper with rare size who impacts the game at the rim on both ends of the floor at such a high level.”
Oboye averaged 7.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and recorded a team-high 40 blocks during his redshirt sophomore year at Santa Clara. Over his time there, he played in a total of 61 games after redshirting as a freshman. Originally from Houston, Texas, he had eleven double-digit scoring games last year, including a season-high performance with 22 points against Nevada.
Pearl also commented on Oboye’s development: “What stands out even more than his tools is his growth. He’s shown improvements every single day, and the more he plays the better he becomes. If Bukky stays on the path he’s been on, he has a chance to be a very special player on the Plains.” This marks Auburn’s second seven-foot recruit this offseason along with Narcisse Ngoy from France.
The addition signals continued efforts by Auburn to strengthen its roster ahead of next season.
