Auburn University’s baseball team, ranked No. 5 nationally, will begin a nine-game homestand on Wednesday against West Georgia at Plainsman Park. The first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. Central Time. The game will be available on the Auburn Sports Network, Wings 94.3 FM, and SEC Network+.

Head coach Butch Thompson commented on the team’s return to their home field: “The last time we played here at Plainsman Park we didn’t play fast or play the way we wanted to play,” Thompson said. “We responded good, but can we learn some lessons and invest and get back out on this field at Plainsman Park and feel good, feel like we’re doing what we’re trying to do consistently? Can we be mentally and physically consistent and show up, and can we grow from a lot of things that we need to do better.”

A limited number of single-game tickets and Hall of Fame Club access passes remain available for purchase.

Auburn comes into the game after winning the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series in Arlington with victories over Kansas State, No. 9 Florida State, and No. 15 Louisville. This marks Auburn’s second consecutive undefeated trip to Arlington. The Tigers have now won eight straight games at Globe Life Field since their first appearance there in 2022; four of those wins were against top-15 teams.

Through seven games this season, Auburn’s pitching staff has recorded 91 strikeouts—18 more than at this point last year—and achieved its highest total through seven games since 1997 (104). The team has reached double-digit strikeouts in six of its first seven contests.

Nationally, Auburn ranks among the top ten NCAA teams in several pitching categories: second in strikeout-to-walk ratio (5.69), sixth in walks allowed per nine innings (2.32), eighth in WHIP (0.95), and ninth in strikeouts per nine innings (13.2).

Offensively, after a slow start last Tuesday, Auburn scored 23 runs on 35 hits across three tournament games for a .350 team batting average; four players had five or more hits during that stretch.

Since the beginning of the 2025 season, Auburn holds a home record of 31-9.

Wednesday’s matchup is the first between Auburn and West Georgia since 1993; Auburn leads the all-time series with a record of 12-0 by a combined score margin of 104-28.

West Georgia enters with a record of 1-7 following three close losses at Little Rock last weekend—including two one-run defeats and an extra-inning loss. The Wolves are hitting .237 as a team with senior infielder Gabe Wuerth leading at .375 average; Andon Lewis leads with eleven hits.

On the mound for West Georgia will be right-handed pitcher Maverick Torres making his fourth appearance but first start this season; he joins an overall staff ERA that improved from earlier outings but stands at 8.41 overall after lowering it to 5.06 over their recent three-game set.

Fans attending Wednesday’s game can find updated information about gameday logistics via Auburn’s revamped baseball gameday page online.

Promotions include photo opportunities with Loretta the Camel inside Plainsman Park’s main gates as part of “Hump Day,” along with discounted concessions during every midweek game throughout the season.
