Auburn University’s baseball team improved its record to 6-1 after a successful weekend at the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series in Arlington, Texas. The Tigers rebounded from an early week loss against Cincinnati, where they were shut out 8-0, by winning three consecutive games against Kansas State, No. 9 Florida State, and No. 8 Louisville.

Against Kansas State on Friday, Auburn secured a 5-1 victory. The team followed up with an 8-5 win over Florida State on Saturday and closed the weekend with a 10-6 win against Louisville on Sunday.

Junior outfielder Bristol Carter was named one of the Players of the Week. Over four games, Carter posted a .583 batting average and scored seven runs. In Arlington, he hit .545 with six hits and earned Most Outstanding Player honors for the tournament. “Went 1-for-3 with two walks and two stolen bases while scoring all three times he reached in the opener against Kansas State,” according to the team’s report. “Went 3-for-3 with a walk and his first home run of the season in the win against Florida State.” He also had multiple hits in each game during the series.

Freshman utility player Ethin Bingaman contributed significantly as well, leading Auburn with a .625 average in Arlington and hitting his first two career home runs during Sunday’s game against Louisville. “Led the team with a .625 average (5-for-8) in the three games in Arlington,” stated the release. Both home runs left his bat at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour.

Redshirt freshman Brandon McCraine also made notable contributions by collecting seven hits over three games in Arlington and maintaining a .556 batting average through his first six career games.

On the mound, sophomore left-hander Jake Marciano was recognized as Pitcher of the Week after earning his first win for Auburn with six scoreless innings against Kansas State, striking out eight without allowing any walks or runs. “Earned his first win in an Auburn uniform, turning in 6.0 scoreless innings with no walks and eight strikeouts,” according to Auburn officials.

The Tigers’ pitching staff has recorded strong numbers so far this season: through seven games they have registered 91 strikeouts—18 more than last year at this point—and currently rank among national leaders in several categories including strikeout-to-walk ratio (second), walks allowed per nine innings (sixth), WHIP (eighth), and strikeouts per nine innings (ninth). Starting pitchers have combined for a 4-1 record with a collective ERA of 2.25.

Auburn is off to its third straight season start of at least six wins through seven games under head coach Butch Thompson. The team has now won eight straight contests played in Arlington since their first appearance at this tournament in 2022; half of those victories came against teams ranked among the top fifteen nationally.

The upcoming schedule includes matchups at home versus West Georgia on Wednesday followed by a three-game series against Nebraska starting Friday.
