Auburn University’s baseball team continues its strong start to the season, posting a 9-2 overall record after last week’s games. The Tigers recorded wins against West Georgia and Nebraska, securing three victories out of four matchups.

The team defeated West Georgia 4-3 on Wednesday. In a series against Nebraska, Auburn lost the Friday opener in extra innings 8-9 but bounced back with two convincing wins: 15-4 in seven innings on Saturday and 12-3 on Sunday.

Brandon McCraine was recognized as one of the players of the week. Over four games, he batted .500 and reached base at least three times in multiple contests. He has now reached base in all ten games this season and is currently on a seven-game hitting streak. According to statistics provided by Auburn, McCraine leads the league with a .533 batting average and ranks third in on-base percentage at .634 through his first ten career games.

Freshman Mason McCraine also had a notable week, recording six hits and eight runs batted in over four games. His performance included a home run and several key hits during the Nebraska series. Notably, his six RBIs during one game tied for the most by an Auburn freshman since Steven Williams’ seven-RBI effort against Longwood in 2018.

Pitchers Alex Petrovic and Christian Chatterton contributed significantly from the mound. Petrovic earned his third win of the season, pitching five innings with seven strikeouts against Nebraska. Chatterton secured his first win of the year by throwing 2.2 scoreless innings in relief during Saturday’s victory over Nebraska.

Auburn’s pitching staff has been effective early this season, striking out 140 batters while issuing only 25 walks over 97 innings pitched across eleven games—both marks among their best since records began being kept electronically in 1992. The team currently ranks second nationally in both strikeout-to-walk ratio (5.60) and walks allowed per nine innings (2.32), while ranking fourth in strikeouts per nine innings (13). Auburn pitchers have tallied double-digit strikeouts in ten of their first eleven games this year.

After dropping Friday’s game to Nebraska, Auburn rebounded to claim its eleventh straight regular-season home series win—a streak dating back to late 2024—and its sixteenth winning weekend out of nineteen since that time frame, trailing only Texas within their conference for total winning weekends.

Looking ahead, Auburn will face Samford on Tuesday before hosting Winthrop for three consecutive days starting Friday.
