Auburn University’s baseball team announced on Apr. 6 that it achieved a series win against No. 15 Arkansas, improving its overall record to 22-9 and maintaining a balanced performance in the Southeastern Conference with a 6-6 record.
The victory is significant as it marks Auburn’s first series win over Arkansas since 2017, demonstrating progress for the program. The team also highlighted strong pitching and hitting throughout the week.
Among the players recognized for their contributions were Eric Guevara, who led with eight hits during the week—seven of which came in the Arkansas series—and now leads Auburn with twelve multi-hit games this season. Guevara went three-for-three with a home run and two runs batted in during the opening game against Arkansas and maintains a .359 batting average in conference play.
Freshman Ethin Bingaman contributed five runs batted in during the week, all coming against Arkansas, including driving in Auburn’s go-ahead run in Sunday’s finale. Pitchers Andreas Alvarez and Jake Marciano both turned in quality starts: Alvarez earned his fifth straight win while striking out ten batters, and Marciano recorded his fifth start of at least eight strikeouts this season. Jackson Sanders secured his first career save by delivering four scoreless innings of relief with eight strikeouts.
Team statistics show that Auburn’s pitching staff leads its league with a 3.06 overall earned run average (ERA) and has issued only seventy-seven walks through thirty-one games—the second fewest since at least 1993. The offense produced twenty runs on thirty hits—including eleven extra-base hits—against Arkansas, setting season highs for conference play.
Looking ahead, Auburn will face No. 21 Jacksonville State on Tuesday before hosting Kentucky for a weekend series.
