Auburn baseball announced on Mar. 23 its weekly update, summarizing recent performances, player achievements, and upcoming games. The team currently holds a 19-4 overall record with a Southeastern Conference (SEC) record of 4-2 and is coming off two consecutive losses.
The update is significant as it follows a high-profile stretch in which Auburn faced top-ranked teams, including No. 3 Georgia Tech and No. 2 Texas. These matchups were the highest-ranked games in Plainsman Park history, drawing record-setting crowds throughout the week.
Last week, Auburn defeated Georgia Tech 9-2 before splitting a three-game series with Texas—winning the opener in walk-off fashion but dropping the final two games. The schedule ahead includes a game against South Alabama in Montgomery on Tuesday and a weekend series at Alabama.
Chris Rembert was named Player of the Week after collecting multiple hits in three of four games and leading with two home runs and four runs batted in (RBI). He matched his season-high with three RBI during the win over Georgia Tech and hit another home run to spark a rally against Texas. Lucas Steele also earned recognition for leading the team with a .429 batting average last week; he contributed key hits and scored important runs during both midweek play and SEC competition.
On the mound, Andreas Alvarez secured his third straight midweek win by striking out ten batters—a career high—against Georgia Tech while allowing only one unearned run over five innings. Jake Marciano delivered seven strong innings versus Texas, allowing just one run on two hits with nine strikeouts; he remains among national leaders in earned run average (ERA), walks plus hits per inning pitched (WHIP), strikeouts per nine innings, hits allowed per nine innings, total strikeouts, and strikeout-to-walk ratio.
Team notes highlight that from March 1 through their first game against Texas, Auburn pitchers limited opponents to no more than three runs across an eleven-game span while posting an ERA of just 1.12 for starters during that period. Attendance records were set at Plainsman Park throughout last week’s contests—including all-time highs for both single-game attendance (8,037) and series totals (22,295).
Looking ahead to this week’s slate of games as well as continued SEC play will be crucial for maintaining momentum following these challenging matchups.
