Three Auburn women’s golf team members finished their participation at the Georgia State Invitational at Rivermont Golf Club in Johns Creek, Georgia, on March 31. Freshman Frances Brown was Auburn’s top performer, tying for 11th place.
Brown recovered from a first-round score of four-over-par 76 by shooting a one-under-par 71 in the second round. In her final round, she posted a score of 73 (+1), which included three birdies on the front nine. This result marks Brown’s highest finish of the season.
Anne Fernandez completed her tournament with a final-round score of 76 (+4) and finished tied for 20th place with a total score of eight-over-par (224). It is Fernandez’s fourth top-20 finish this season. Senior Rachel Gourley ended the event tied for 40th after recording a total score of thirteen-over-par (229).
Tennessee’s Sophie Christopher won the individual title with an overall score of five-under-par (211).
The next event for Auburn will be the Southeastern Conference Championship at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida. The stroke play rounds are scheduled for April 17-19, followed by match play from April 20-21.
