The No. 17 Auburn gymnastics team will compete at the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional from April 1-5, according to a March 23 announcement. The event will take place in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
The regional marks another postseason appearance for Auburn, with head coach Jeff Graba saying the team is familiar with both the venue and some of its competition. “The good news is that we’ve been there before and should be acclimated to the arena and we know our competition to a certain extent competing with two teams already in our first session,” Graba said. “We should have confidence going into this meet as long as we take care of business.”
Auburn will participate in the second round on Thursday, April 2, during the night session at 7 p.m. Central Time. The Tigers are set to face No. 1 seed and host LSU, No. 4 seed Clemson, and either Air Force or Nebraska—the winner of an earlier play-in match.
Junior Julianne Huff commented on her team’s readiness for postseason action: “We’re really excited to continue on in the postseason,” Huff said. “We’ve competed in Baton Rouge already this year and this is a place we’re really comfortable with.”
Other teams competing include Stanford (No. 2 seed), Michigan (No. 3 seed), North Carolina, and Utah State in an afternoon session of round two.
Advancement from each session leads to a regional final scheduled for Saturday, April 4; top finishers move on to the NCAA Championship set for April 16-18 in Fort Worth, Texas.
