No. 6 Auburn is set to conclude its non-conference schedule by hosting Winthrop this weekend at Plainsman Park. Both teams enter the series with identical records of 10-2. The games are scheduled for Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m. CT, and Sunday at 1 p.m.

Fans can listen to the broadcasts on the Auburn Sports Network, with local coverage on Wings 94.3 FM for Friday and Sunday, and ESPN 106.7 FM on Saturday. SEC Network+ will also provide digital streaming of the series.

Auburn head coach Butch Thompson said, “We’re definitely continuing that trend of trying to play some of the best baseball in the country. Winthrop comes in here winning eight games in a row. They’re 10-2. They’ve absolutely pitched it. They’ve stolen bases. They’ve reached base at a high rate. They present a ton of challenges.”

Thompson added, “Much like last weekend, we’re seeing a team that’s playing well. They come in here playing very good baseball.”

A limited number of general admission single-game tickets and Hall of Fame Club access passes remain available.

The probable pitching matchups for the series are as follows: On Friday, Auburn’s sophomore left-hander Jake Marciano (1-0, 1.69 ERA) faces Winthrop junior right-hander Brayden Gilley (3-0, 2.20 ERA). Saturday will feature Auburn sophomore left-hander Jackson Sanders (1-0, 4.70 ERA) against Winthrop junior left-hander Luke Earnhardt (2-0, 2.93 ERA). Sunday’s game matches Auburn redshirt sophomore right-hander Alex Petrovic (3-0, 2.40 ERA) with Winthrop sophomore right-hander Randy Guzman (0-1, 5.27 ERA).

Auburn has achieved an 11-series regular season home winning streak dating back to late in the 2024 season—the program’s longest since it won thirteen straight from 1998 to 2000—and has claimed victory in sixteen out of nineteen regular season series during that span, second only to Texas among league teams.

Through twelve games this year, Auburn pitchers have struck out 152 batters while issuing just twenty-eight walks—figures not matched since the late nineties and early two-thousands for strikeouts and walks allowed through as many games.

The Tigers’ starting rotation has posted a combined seventy-three strikeouts against just five walks over forty-six and one-third innings pitched this season; starters have gone five or more innings in ten out of twelve games so far.

In their history against Winthrop, Auburn holds a seven-to-two advantage overall—including six wins out of eight meetings at home—with this being their first matchup since the year 2000.

Winthrop arrives riding an eight-game win streak during which they have outscored opponents seventy-two to thirty-one runs overall this season; offensively they are hitting .275 as a team led by Gabe Natividad (.395 average), while Jaylen Hernandez leads with four home runs and sixteen RBIs.

On the mound, Winthrop carries a staff earned run average of 3.45 with one hundred six strikeouts over thirty-six walks in one hundred seven innings pitched; their weekend starters are five-and-one with a collective ERA of 3.38.

Former Auburn player Mike Bello returns as Winthrop’s director of player development and first base coach.

This weekend’s events include several promotions under the Go Wild War Eagle Weekend banner presented by YETI: Friday features a beverage barrel giveaway; Saturday offers floral hats; Sunday includes a YETI raffle open to those attending who scan QR codes at promotional booths across all Auburn athletics events throughout the weekend.

For more information about attending games at Plainsman Park—including parking details such as reserved lots for gymnastics pass holders beginning Friday afternoon—fans are encouraged to visit the updated Auburn baseball gameday page.
