Auburn men’s golf took a six-shot lead after the opening round of the Mason Rudolph Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Course on April 3. Strong performances from Jackson Koivun, Cayden Pope, and Jake Albert placed all three players inside the top five following Friday’s first 18 holes.
The event matters as it showcases Auburn’s early dominance in a competitive collegiate tournament, setting them up as frontrunners for the remainder of the championship.
Koivun finished with a score of four-under-par 67 to share the individual lead with Tom Fischer from Ole Miss. Pope shot a three-under-par 68 while Albert posted a two-under-par 69. Junior Josiah Gilbert also contributed with a one-under-par 70. Freshman Logan Reilly recorded a one-over-par 72, and sophomore Billy Davis finished at three-over-par with a score of 74.
The team’s strong start provides momentum heading into day two of play. Auburn will look to maintain its advantage over competitors as they continue through the tournament.
Looking ahead, Auburn aims to build on this early success and secure victory in the Mason Rudolph Championship.
