Auburn players finish first day at Georgia State Invitational in Johns Creek

Three Auburn University golfers completed the opening two rounds of the Georgia State Invitational on Mar. 30 at Rivermont Golf Club in Johns Creek, Georgia. All three athletes are competing as individuals, with Frances Brown and Anne Fernandez placing inside the top 20 after Monday’s play.

Brown, a freshman, improved her score from an opening-round 76 to shoot a second-round 71, which included four birdies. This marked her second round under par this season and placed her tied for 16th with a total score of three-over-par 147.

Anne Fernandez started strong with an even-par round of 72 that also featured four birdies before posting a second-round score of 76. She is currently tied for 20th place at four-over-par 148 for the tournament.

Senior Rachel Gourley recorded rounds of three-over-par 75 and four-over-par 76 on Monday. Her total score stands at seven-over-par 151, tying her for the thirty-eighth position.

Tennessee’s Sophie Christopher leads individually after two rounds with a six-under-par total of 138 through thirty-six holes.

The final round of the Georgia State Invitational is scheduled for Tuesday. Live scoring will be available online.
