The Auburn Police Department is pleased to announce the promotion of Sgt. James ‘Jim’ Perry to the rank of lieutenant, effective June 1, 2022.

Lt. Jim Perry served as a police officer with Jacksonville Police Department from 1996 to 1999 and was a member of the Calhoun County Drug Task Force from 1999 to 2000. He was hired by the Auburn Police Department as a police officer on Oct. 2, 2000, and was a patrol officer before being promoted to detective in August 2007, corporal on Oct. 17, 2016, sergeant in November 2018, and Lieutenant on June 1, 2022. Lt. Perry became K9 certified and K9 Ikia’s handler in 2016. Lt. Perry has been assigned as a shift commander in patrol and will remain the K9 unit supervisor.
