No. 5 Auburn is preparing to face Nebraska for the first time in program history at Plainsman Park, with games scheduled for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Auburn currently holds a 7-1 record, while Nebraska comes into the series at 4-3.
The games will be broadcast on the Auburn Sports Network, with local radio coverage on Wings 94.3 FM and ESPN 106.7 FM. Fans can also watch digitally via SEC Network+.
Auburn head coach Butch Thompson described the upcoming matchup as a valuable test for his team. “This is going to be a SEC-type weekend. It’s going to be a rehearsal,” Thompson said. “This is going to be one good, solid baseball club that we’re going to have to face for a three-game series.”
He added, “We still have a lot to learn, and it doesn’t matter who we’re playing. This is more about can we just absolutely keep getting ready to play good baseball? (Nebraska) has my full attention, and they’ll have my team’s full attention once we get out on that field.”
A limited number of general admission single-game tickets remain available for the series.
Probable starting pitchers for Auburn include Jake Marciano on Friday, Jackson Sanders on Saturday, and Alex Petrovic on Sunday. Nebraska’s likely starters are Ty Horn, Carson Jasa, and Gavin Blachowicz.
Auburn seeks its 11th consecutive regular season home series win and has won 15 of its last 18 regular season weekends—ranking second in the SEC during this period behind Texas.
The Tigers’ pitching staff has recorded 102 strikeouts over eight games—22 more than at this point last year—and ranks among the NCAA leaders in several categories such as strikeout-to-walk ratio and walks allowed per nine innings.
Nebraska recently played in Arlington, losing close games to Louisville and Kansas State before defeating Florida State. The Cornhuskers are batting .319 as a team with six everyday starters hitting .348 or better; Dylan Carey leads with a .455 average, three home runs, and twelve RBIs.
Fans attending the games should note special promotions including EAGLES Night on Friday and a sky blue beanie giveaway on Saturday. Parking arrangements will be affected by other campus events such as the War Eagle Run Fest and men’s basketball game; details are available through official channels.
