Auburn softball lost the series opener against No. 6 Arkansas, 10-0, in five innings on April 4 at Bogle Park in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Eight of the ten runs scored by Arkansas were unearned due to Auburn’s defensive errors.

The loss puts Auburn at a record of 23-14 overall and 2-8 in Southeastern Conference play. Defensive mistakes played a significant role in the outcome of the game, allowing multiple unearned runs for Arkansas.

“We had a couple of mistakes that led to big innings,” said co-head coach Chris Malveaux. “Little things like that leave the door open. (Robyn Herron) is tough to score against. We had some opportunities. It feels like the score was exaggerated compared to how the game began. The biggest thing we need to do is stay disciplined at the plate and realize we’re one play away from keeping the score from getting away. We’ve got to learn from today and move past it.”

Offensively, Auburn managed only two hits during the game—a single by sophomore Kylie Shaw in the third inning and a double by freshman Haven Roebuck in the fourth inning—and left five runners stranded on base.

Sophomore Ella Harrison started for Auburn, pitching three innings with four hits allowed and two earned runs while striking out two batters. Redshirt freshman Abby Herndon pitched one inning with two strikeouts.

Arkansas improved its record to 31-5 overall and 6-4 in conference play after capitalizing on Auburn’s fielding errors throughout key moments of the game.

The second game of this series is scheduled for Sunday at 3 p.m., airing on SEC Network and available locally on WEGL 91.1 FM or via streaming through official team channels.

Looking ahead, Auburn will return home April 10–12 for a three-game series against No. 4 Alabama during Alumni Weekend at Jane B. Moore Field.
