Auburn University’s softball team is set to host the Jane B. Moore Memorial Tournament at Jane B. Moore Field, welcoming teams from Troy, No. 11 Virginia Tech, and USC Upstate for its final non-conference tournament of the season.
“It’s going to be a pretty good test for us this weekend,” said co-head coach Chris Malveaux. “Troy is going to bring it every single time. Being an in-state opponent, they want to compete and win. USC Upstate is off to a good start, and we expect them to be competitive all weekend. Virginia Tech, it’s no secret, they are always giving themselves a chance to make a run in the postseason. We’ve got to make sure that we’re taking care of ourselves and making sure we’re preparing for the test ahead.”
The tournament has been held annually since 2022 and honors Dr. Jane B. Moore, who played a significant role in advancing women’s athletics at Auburn University. The home field was named after her in 2002 following her contributions to the university; Dr. Moore passed away in 2021.
Auburn will begin play against Troy on Thursday evening, with subsequent games scheduled through Sunday against Troy again, Virginia Tech twice, and USC Upstate twice as well. Saturday will also feature celebrations for Aubie’s birthday with activities for young fans before the afternoon games.
The final game of the tournament will take place on Sunday morning against USC Upstate. Afterward, children ages four to fifteen can participate in “Softballs from the Sky,” where foam softballs will be dropped onto the field by helicopter as part of a world record attempt.
Traffic around Jane B. Moore Field may be affected due to road closures related to both the tournament and the War Eagle Run Fest over the weekend; fans are advised to arrive early and review parking information.
Auburn enters this home stretch after competing at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in California, where they achieved notable wins including a victory over No. 14 Oregon and matched their program’s single-game home run record during a win over California.
Senior Destiny Rodriguez leads Auburn in runs batted in (RBI) with 21 so far this season and has hit five home runs in just sixteen games—equaling her total from her previous three collegiate seasons combined.
Pitcher Ella Harrison has accumulated seven wins this season—ranking fourth nationally—and recorded 48 strikeouts, which places her fourth among Southeastern Conference pitchers.
All six games of the tournament will be broadcast on SEC Network+, with local radio coverage available on WEGL 91.1 FM as well as streaming options through Auburn Tigers’ official platforms.
