No. 24 Auburn softball will travel to Norman to play No. 6 Oklahoma in a three-game Southeastern Conference series, according to a March 12 announcement from the team. The matchup at Love’s Field marks Auburn’s first road test in conference play this season.

The series is significant as it represents Auburn’s first-ever trip to Norman and their inaugural meeting with Oklahoma as SEC opponents. Both teams are coming off strong starts, with Auburn holding a 19-7 record (2-1 SEC) and Oklahoma entering the weekend at 25-2 overall.

Co-head coach Chris Malveaux said, “It’s an amazing environment there. It can be daunting, but it’s going to be a blast. I want our players to experience and appreciate it, but to also eliminate all that clutter. At the end of the day, the ball doesn’t know who is supposed to win. It’s going to come down to competing, winning the next pitch and keeping our minds in the right space. Our process is going to be the same. We’ve got to make sure we’re locked in and doing whatever we need to do to win.”

The games are scheduled for Friday at 6:30 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m., and Sunday at noon Central Time. The first two contests will air on SEC Network+, while Sunday’s game will be broadcast on SEC Network. Radio coverage will be provided by WEGL 91.1 FM and streamed online through Auburn Tigers’ platforms.

Auburn opened its conference schedule last weekend by winning a doubleheader against Kentucky, marking its first opening series victory since 2022. Junior Alyssa Hastings leads Auburn with a .476 batting average and seven doubles, while sophomore Kylie Shaw has reached base safely in every game this season and leads the SEC with 29 walks.

Oklahoma enters its first conference series after defeating Tulsa earlier in the week. The Sooners lead national statistics in several offensive categories including batting average, total runs, home runs, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage—averaging over 14 runs per game this season.

Malveaux said about Oklahoma: “Offensively this is going to be the best lineup we’ve seen… Their expectation is to win a national championship every single year… They are going to be an incredibly complete team.”

The outcome of this series could impact both teams’ standings as they continue their respective conference campaigns.
