Auburn softball will host Florida A&M and South Alabama at Jane B. Moore Field in its final home midweek contests of the regular season, according to a March 22 announcement from the team.
These games are important for Auburn as they prepare to return to conference play. Co-head coach Chris Malveaux said, “We’re shifting gears from SEC play with this midweek stretch. It’s important that we use these games to reset and keep that attack mindset throughout. These are important games against teams that are going to be in the conversation for their respective conference titles. It’s a great challenge for us before we dive back into conference play.”
The first game is scheduled for Monday against Florida A&M, led by Auburn alumna Brittany (Scott) Beall. The contest will begin at 5 p.m. Central Time and will be covered on SEC Network+ by Lyn Rollins and JJ Jackson. Fans attending can participate in Pickleball Night activities until the fifth inning.
On Wednesday, Auburn will face South Alabama at 6 p.m., also broadcast on SEC Network+ with Graham Doty and JJ Jackson providing coverage. This game marks Auburn’s annual Military Appreciation Game, where fans can receive a free “Beverage Boot” while supplies last.
Auburn recently defeated South Alabama 11-2, with freshman Delaney Aumua driving in six runs and the team drawing a season-high 12 walks. The Tigers have outscored recent opponents 21-5 during their current midweek stretch and hold an 11-2 record against in-state foes under coaches Chris and Kate Malveaux.
The Tigers enter the week ranked fourth in the Southeastern Conference with 48 home runs this season, led by McKaela Walker and Ma’Nia Womack who each have ten home runs. Walker has been especially productive over the last fifteen games, while sophomore Kylie Shaw leads several offensive categories including hits, runs scored, walks, and on-base percentage.
Pitcher Ella Harrison anchors Auburn’s staff with nine wins this season and recently recorded her 300th collegiate strikeout.
Florida A&M brings a contact-oriented lineup featuring Amari Brown as its top hitter, while pitcher Zoryana Hughes leads their staff with six wins. South Alabama relies on contact hitting and speed; Virginia Mambelli leads their offense while Ryley Harrison heads up pitching efforts with three shutouts.
Auburn holds a series advantage over both visiting teams: six wins against Florida A&M and nine against South Alabama.
Fans traveling to Jane B. Moore Field should note upcoming construction on Wire Road beginning in March which will reduce northbound traffic to one lane.
