No. 11 Auburn will conclude its midweek series against No. 3 Georgia Tech on Tuesday, Mar. 30, with the game scheduled for 6 p.m. Central Time at Russ Chandler Stadium.
The matchup is significant as both teams are ranked among the top fifteen in college baseball, and Auburn is currently navigating a challenging stretch where most of its remaining games are against ranked opponents.
Tuesday’s probable starters are sophomore right-handed pitcher Christian Chatterton for Auburn and freshman left-hander Cooper Underwood for Georgia Tech. Chatterton will be making his first start of the season after previously allowing just two runs on three hits with twelve strikeouts over nine innings in three career appearances against Georgia Tech, including two starts last season.
Auburn has performed strongly in midweek games this year, posting a 5-1 record and outscoring opponents by a combined total of 46-9 over the last five such contests. The team has also limited opposing offenses to no more than two runs in each of its last four midweek matchups.
Georgia Tech enters the contest with a 22-5 overall record and leads several national offensive categories, including batting average (.365), runs (307), scoring (11.4 per game), and on-base percentage (.488). Junior catcher Vahn Lackey tops most individual offensive statistics for the Yellow Jackets.
Auburn holds an all-time advantage over Georgia Tech in their series history, leading 128-113-6 and having won five straight meetings—the longest winning streak by either team since between 1967 and 1977.
