Auburn University announced on May 3 that its track and field teams finished the 2026 regular season with strong performances at the Torrin Lawrence Memorial in Athens, Georgia, and the East Coast Relays in Jacksonville, Florida.
The announcement highlights several notable achievements, including senior Megan Hague breaking her own Auburn shot put record. The Tigers also recorded eight NCAA top-20 marks, 11 new personal bests, four individual event wins, and a relay victory during the weekend competitions.
At the Torrin Lawrence Memorial in Athens, Hague set a new school record in shot put with a throw of 18.63 meters (61-1.5), surpassing her previous mark by 0.41 meters. This performance earned her third place nationally for the event this season. Hague now holds nine of Auburn’s top ten all-time shot put performances.
In Jacksonville at the East Coast Relays, Azeem Fahmi, Kayinsola Akayi, Ja’Kobe Tharp, and Israel Okon won gold in the men’s 4×100 meter relay with a time of 38.41 seconds—the fastest NCAA time this year and seventh-best in Auburn history for that event. In individual sprints, junior Kayinsola Ajayi finished second in the men’s 100 meters with a wind-aided time of 9.99 seconds; three other Tigers placed among the top five finishers.
Other highlights include sophomore Camila Gomes winning gold in the women’s 800 meters with one of Auburn’s best times ever for that distance; sophomore Camryn Massey winning discus throw with a personal best; freshman Sophia Mazzoni earning bronze in women’s javelin; and several athletes achieving podium finishes or personal records across various events.
With these results concluding their regular season schedule, Auburn track and field will host the Southeastern Conference Outdoor Championships from May 14 to May 16 at Hutsell-Rosen Track as they aim to secure qualifying marks ahead of upcoming NCAA competition.
