Auburn University’s women’s basketball team will open their postseason on Wednesday in the first round of the 2026 SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament, facing Texas A&M at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina. The game is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on ESPN 106.7 FM and televised on SEC Network.
The Tigers hold a season record of 14-16 overall and went 3-13 in conference play, entering the tournament as the No. 15 seed. Texas A&M, with a record of 14-11 overall and 7-9 in the SEC, comes into the matchup having won their last five league games.
Auburn finished its regular season with a loss to Arkansas, falling 70-41 at Bud Walton Arena. Harissoum Coulibaly led Auburn with 15 points in that game, while Kaitlyn Duhon grabbed seven rebounds and Ja’Mia Harris had three assists. Auburn struggled offensively during that contest, shooting just 28 percent from the field and converting only one of twenty attempts from beyond the arc.
This marks Auburn’s 47th appearance in the SEC Tournament. The Tigers have an all-time tournament record of 40 wins and 44 losses, capturing four titles in program history (1981, 1987, 1990, and 1997). Head coach Larry Vickers will be making his first appearance leading Auburn in this tournament after winning four consecutive MEAC Tournament titles at Norfolk State.
If Auburn secures a win against Texas A&M, it would be their first SEC Tournament victory since defeating Arkansas in the second round two years ago. It would also mark their first neutral-site or tournament win over Texas A&M.
Auburn has historically struggled against Texas A&M with an all-time record of three wins and eighteen losses; all three victories occurred at home within the past three seasons. The Aggies have claimed every previous SEC Tournament meeting between these teams.
In their most recent matchup on February 15 in College Station, Texas A&M defeated Auburn by a score of 81-63. Despite Kaitlyn Duhon scoring a career-high twenty-three points for Auburn—leading her team across points, rebounds (six), and steals (four)—Texas A&M shot fifty-seven percent from the floor and hit nine three-pointers without missing any free throws.
Texas A&M is led by Ny’Ceara Pryor who averages nearly sixteen points per game along with leading her team—and the SEC—in assists and steals.
For Auburn, freshman Harissoum Coulibaly leads her squad averaging just over ten points per game after stepping into a starting role early this season. Redshirt junior Kaitlyn Duhon contributes almost ten points per contest while ranking among national leaders for steals; she recently moved into second place for single-season steals at Auburn with ninety-five total through regular season play. Sophomore Khady Leye averages over nine points along with leading rebounding efforts for Auburn.
Additional contributions have come from Ja’Mia Harris who has taken over point guard duties late in the year; Mya Petticord whose season-high performances helped secure several wins; senior guard A’riel Jackson; sophomore Syriah Daniels; freshman Sania Richardson; redshirt freshman Arek Angui; transfer Angena Belloso; and junior college transfer Clara Koulibaly.
Should Auburn advance past Texas A&M on Wednesday evening, they will face No. 7 seed Ole Miss in Thursday’s second-round matchup at 5 p.m CT.
