Auburn University announced on May 10 that its No. 7 ranked women’s golf team will begin play at the NCAA Simpsonville Regional this week at the University of Louisville Golf Club in Simpsonville, Kentucky. The event, which runs from Monday through Wednesday, will determine which teams advance to the NCAA Championship later this month.
The regional is significant as only the top five teams from each of six sites will move on to compete for a national title at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California. Head coach Melissa Luellen said, “The main thing is that we just need to go in and think about winning the tournament. Your whole season, no matter how well you’ve played or how poorly you’ve played, it all comes down to three days. For the teams that are in the five, six or seven spots, they have absolutely nothing to lose. We have to go in there thinking we only have one thing to do, and that’s win the tournament.”
Auburn earned its spot by tying a program record with five tournament wins during the 2025-26 season and was selected for an NCAA regional for the 31st time in program history. The Tigers also performed strongly at this year’s SEC Championship by finishing fourth during stroke play and reaching the match-play final.
The team enters as a No. 2 seed alongside schools such as Arkansas (No. 6), Iowa State (No. 8), Ole Miss (No. 19), Houston, Virginia Tech, Kansas State, Indiana, College of Charleston, Xavier, Western Kentucky and Murray State.
Competing golfers include Anna Davis (teeing off at 7:44 a.m.), Charlotte Cantonis (7:33 a.m.), Molly Brown Davidson (7:22 a.m.), Katie Cranston (7:11 a.m.) and Carys Worby (7:00 a.m.). Freshman Frances Brown will travel as an alternate.
