Sophomore infielder Chris Rembert has been named to the Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List, as announced by USA Baseball. This recognition comes after a preseason filled with several All-America honors for Rembert.
Rembert is now the 11th Auburn player to appear on the Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List and the eighth since 2018. The list features 55 high school and college baseball players who were selected based on their performances from the previous year. The Golden Spikes Advisory Board will update the watch list throughout the season, allowing athletes to earn consideration through their in-season achievements.
Key dates for this year’s award process include April 2 for the Midseason Watch List, May 14 for semifinalists, June 10 for finalists, and June 29 when the winner will be announced.
A native of Pensacola, Florida, Rembert has also received several other preseason recognitions ahead of Auburn’s upcoming season. These include being named to the Preseason First Team All-SEC and earning Preseason First Team All-America honors from Baseball America, D1 Baseball, Perfect Game, and The Diamond Report. He was also listed as a Third Team All-American by NCBWA and is on Baseball America’s Preseason Player of the Year Watch List.
Last season as a freshman, Rembert led Auburn with a .344 batting average along with 14 doubles, 10 home runs, and 46 RBIs. In conference play, he topped the league with a .485 on-base percentage and ranked third with a .376 batting average. He became Auburn’s first freshman since 2008 to receive first or second team All-SEC honors and was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team. Nationally, he earned First Team Freshman All-America honors from Baseball America, D1 Baseball, and NCBWA; Perfect Game recognized him as Second Team Freshman All-America.
Auburn opens its season at home against Youngstown State from February 13-15 at Plainsman Park.
