Sophomore guard Elyjah Freeman has been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, according to an announcement made on Mar. 24.

Freeman’s recognition highlights both his academic and athletic achievements since joining Auburn after transferring from Division II Lincoln-Memorial. He maintains a 3.71 grade point average in Interdisciplinary Studies.

On the basketball court, Freeman has played in all 35 games this season, starting in 18 of them. He is averaging 9.2 points and 5.1 rebounds per game for the Tigers and leads the team with 43 steals.

One of Freeman’s standout moments this season came when he scored the game-winning basket against Kentucky with just over one second remaining, securing a narrow victory for Auburn at 75-74.

Freeman and his teammates are set to host Nevada (24-12) in the third round of the National Invitation Tournament on Wednesday at 8 p.m., with a spot in the NIT semifinal in Indianapolis on the line.
