Fall Camp Notebook — August 6

Two days into the 2022 preseason, Tuskegee will continue to build and prepare for their season opener on Sunday, Sept. 4.

The Golden Tigers completed their second practice of fall camp Saturday morning.

“It’s definitely a day-to-day process. Each day we are ramping it up a notch and getting our program more acclimated to performing and playing our style of football,” Tuskegee head coach Reginald Ruffin said Saturday about the progress he has seen thus far over the weekend. “We saw improvement from the first day to today, which is what you want, and we expect to continue on that path hopefully to lead up to our first game.”

Ruffin expounded that the staff would have their eyes keen to position battles on both sides of the ball, as depth was not a luxury for the Golden Tigers in the spring. Adding numbers for fall camp will fill in a variety of questions for Tuskegee coming into the 2022 campaign.

“Depth throughout our roster is going to be huge, a lot of our newcomers will have to have a role, including freshman. Our job as a staff is to have everyone prepared, that way our depth becomes our strength. With us bringing in so many new additions, we must make sure that we learn how to play with each other and as a team.”

Tuskegee will practice for six more consecutive mornings starting on Sunday, leading up to the first of two private team scrimmages on Saturday.
