Auburn sophomore Hamza Nasridinov was named Southeastern Conference (SEC) Player of the Week, according to an announcement from the conference office on Apr. 1. Nasridinov is the first Auburn player to receive this honor during the current season.
The recognition follows a weekend in which Nasridinov secured two singles victories against top-30 opponents. He defeated No. 29 Olaf Pieczkowski of LSU in a match-clinching win and overcame No. 15 Lucas da Silva of South Carolina.
In Friday’s match against LSU, Nasridinov built an early lead over Pieczkowski, winning the first set 6-2 and closing out the second set by the same score to help Auburn upset seventh-ranked LSU. On Sunday, he faced da Silva from South Carolina, taking a close first set 6-4 before winning a tiebreaker 7-0 in the second set.
Nasridinov also contributed in doubles play alongside Jake Kennedy, with the pair clinching Auburn’s doubles point against LSU by defeating Rudy Ceccon and Olaf Pieczkowski at the No. 3 position.
This award marks Nasridinov’s first career conference honor.
