Kevin Overton announced on April 7 that he will return to the Auburn University men’s basketball program for his senior season in 2026-27.
Overton was named the National Invitation Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player after a standout year, averaging 14.1 points per game while shooting 45 percent from the field and over 41 percent from three-point range. His performance played a key role in Auburn’s successful run to the NIT title.
During the Tigers’ championship campaign, Overton led all scorers with an average of 18.6 points per game and made more than half of his attempts from beyond the arc, connecting on nearly 54 percent of his three-point shots in five tournament games. He scored at least 20 points in eleven games throughout the season, including a career-high of 29 against NC State and a pivotal 26-point effort in the NIT championship game against Tulsa. In that final, he hit both a game-tying three-pointer to force overtime and another crucial shot to secure victory during overtime.
Overton finished this past season with ninety-five made three-pointers—the seventh highest single-season total in Auburn history—while maintaining a shooting percentage above forty-one percent from long distance.
Looking ahead, Overton’s decision is expected to provide continuity for Auburn as they prepare for next season.
