Auburn University’s men’s golf team secured its fourth win of the season at the Mason Rudolph Championship on April 5, led by junior Jackson Koivun. The tournament took place at Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tennessee.
The victory marks Auburn’s seventh consecutive finish in the top two this season and strengthens their record against top 25 opponents. The team finished with a score of 26-under par, well ahead of second-place Vanderbilt.
Head coach Nick Clinard said, “Overall great performance from our guys from start to finish. We put ourselves in a good position to contend for a win from the first day, and then they just never let off the gas. All six of them just love to compete and love to win, and that’s the standard we’ve set for ourselves here at Auburn.”
Koivun shot a bogey-free final round of 66 (-5) on Sunday to claim his fourth individual title in six starts this season and ninth overall collegiate win. He said, “Winning is in the DNA of this program. Every time we compete, we accept nothing less than that. I’m excited to get another one for myself but even more stoked for the team to be able to add another trophy to the trophy case when we get back home.”
All six Auburn players finished within the top 25 individually: Koivun was joined by freshman Jake Albert and junior Josiah Gilbert in the top ten; junior Cayden Pope and freshman Logan Reilly tied for eleventh; sophomore Billy Davis placed twenty-fifth after climbing up with a strong final round.
Looking ahead, Auburn will compete next at The Ford Collegiate scheduled for April 13-14 at The Ford Field and River Club in Richmond Hill, Georgia.
