Tuskegee University announced on Apr. 23 that it will partner with the Montgomery Biscuits for the second consecutive year to honor researcher and scientist George Washington Carver during the George Washington Carver Legacy Night for Macon County, scheduled for Friday.

The event aims to celebrate Carver’s enduring impact, particularly at Tuskegee University, where his research continues to influence the campus community. The tribute highlights local collaboration between Tuskegee University, Macon County residents, and the Montgomery Biscuits baseball team.

During Friday’s game at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, players will take the field as the Peanut Runners in recognition of Carver’s contributions. The initiative was led by Dr. Olga Bolden-Tiller, Dean of the College of Agriculture, Environment, and Nutrition Sciences; Walter Cooper, Director of Career Education Leadership Development Center; and Dr. Kellei Samuels, Chief of Staff. Samuels is scheduled to throw out the first pitch while Tuskegee University’s Golden Voices Choir will perform the National Anthem.

Tickets are available both online and at Riverwalk Stadium. Tuskegee students can attend by presenting their university ID cards; additionally, complimentary admission will be provided to the first 50 students who arrive. Students wishing to ride a university bus from campus must notify Scott Johnston by email before 10 a.m. on Friday. The bus is set to depart campus at 4 p.m.

The event reflects ongoing efforts by local institutions to honor influential historical figures through community partnerships.
