Auburn University announced on Mar. 10 that junior SJ Geurin has been named one of Softball America’s Stars of the Week following her performance in a doubleheader against Kentucky.
The recognition highlights athletes across the country for their achievements in categories such as player, pitcher, freshman, and defender. Geurin received her second pitching honor from Softball America, having previously earned the distinction last February.
Geurin played a key role in Auburn’s series win over Kentucky, which marked the team’s first Southeastern Conference opening series victory since 2022 and back-to-back series wins over Kentucky for the first time since 2018. In the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader, she pitched a complete game, allowing only one hit after the first inning and helping Auburn secure a 6-2 win to even the series.
During the deciding game, which included a two-hour weather delay and extended to 13 innings, Geurin returned as a relief pitcher in the ninth inning. She delivered 4.2 innings of scoreless relief and limited Kentucky to just two hits. Her efforts contributed to Auburn’s walk-off win in the final inning.
Geurin finished the weekend with a 1.20 earned run average (ERA), allowing seven hits over 11.2 innings while holding Kentucky batters to a .167 average and striking out six across both appearances.
The recognition from Softball America underscores Geurin’s impact on Auburn softball’s early conference play success.
