Position Overview

Under direction of supervisor greets and assists golfers with selections, orders, prices; stocks merchandise, assembles display units; receives payment for cart and green fees; assists in keeping shop clean and orderly; assists in daily operation of counter area when on duty; performs additional tasks in support of the department as needed or upon request.

Qualifications Required

Have high school education, GED or equivalent training and experience. Reading skills to comprehend manuals, directives, journal publications, invoice sheets and similar non-complex documents. Writing skills to prepare reports, pricing lists and prepare simple documents. Verbal communication skills to issue instructions, convey information and converse with golfers, club members, vendors and suppliers. Math skills to add, subtract, multiply and divide using decimals and percentages. Computer skills to produce word-processed documents, reports, pamphlets and flyers. Skill to operate word processing and graphics software. Ability to exercise judgement particularly in cases involving interaction with golfers and club members.

Qualifications Preferred

Knowledge of golf course etiquette and/or procedures preferred.

Job Title: Shop Attendant (Part-Time)

Reports to: Director

Job Summary

Under direction of the director greets and assists golfers with selections, orders, prices and stock merchandise, assemble display units, receives payment for cart and green fees; assists in keeping shop clean and orderly; assists in daily operation of counter area when on duty; perform additional tasks in support of the department as needed or upon request.

Duties & Responsibilities

A. Operating Pro Shop (10%) – Greets and assists golfers in signing in on course register. Issues scorecards, receives payment and issues greens fee receipt. Operates cash register and collects money for fees; operates electronic credit card machine for non-cash payments. Sells golf merchandise to include clubs, golf balls and golf apparel. Counts money taking in during the day and prints register tape and prepares deposit for City Clerk’s office. Ensures that golf supplies are kept current and in stock. Assembles display units received from vendors and stocks merchandise in Pro Shop. Reviews invoice sheet to determine retail mark-up on incoming inventory. Cleans and maintain golf shop to include windows, dusting and organizing shelves. Monitors grounds and patio area surrounding golf shop to ensure area is kept neat and orderly. Assist with the daily direction of cart attendants to ensure that carts work are neat and orderly.

Job Specifications

Credentials and Experience – Have high school education, GED or equivalent training and experience.

Special Requirements – Be willing to comply with City of Phenix City policies and Lakewood Golf Course policies and procedures. Be willing to work non-duty hours, holidays and weekends when necessary to achieve goals.
