I Tuskegee University will open their season with a battle against Fort Valley State for the second consecutive year in the Red Tails Classic, hosted on Sunday, September 4, 2022, at 6 p.m. on ESPNU at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Alabama.
The Golden Tigers and Wildcats will meet for the 56th time in series history, dating back to their first ever meeting in 1923. Tuskegee leads the all-time series 32-21-2 and eight out of the last ten, while Fort Valley won last year's nationally televised season opener 30-0.
The season-opening matchup will be the first game for the Golden Tigers under head coach Reginald Ruffin, while they are looking to surpass the 700-win mark, with a current an all-time record of 699-375-51 (.621).
