Eight businesses registered in two cities found within Lee County in the week ending Nov. 12, 2022

There were eight businesses that registered in cities within Lee County in the week ending Nov. 12, 2022, according to the Alabama Secretary of State.

This is 20 percent less than the week before, when 10 businesses were registered.

Opelika registered the most businesses in Lee County.

More than 99 percent of Alabama's businesses are considered small, with more than 47 percent of Alabama's employees working for a small business, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.

A Civic Economics study found $100 spent at a locally-owned business puts $47 back into the local economy while the total is just $13 for non-local businesses.
