UPDATE: College Street lane shifts expected through July

UPDATE, June 8: Work to construct a mid-block crossing and medians along College Street between Miller and Reese avenues is now expected to begin on Monday, June 12. College will be reduced to two lanes through the end of July.

June 5: AUBURN, Ala.- College Street will be reduced to two lanes between Miller and Reese avenues beginning on Wednesday, June 7. Crews will begin working on the mid-block crossing and medians as part of the South College Street, Samford Avenue, South Gay Street improvements project. The following lane shifts are expected during this phase of the work:

  • June 7-19: Two-way traffic will be shifted to the two southbound lanes.
  • June 19-July 5: Two-way traffic will be shifted to the two northbound lanes.
  • July 5-31: Two-way traffic will be shifted to the outside northbound and outside southbound lanes to construct the medians.
Traffic control measures will be in place to alert motorists of the traffic pattern changes. Please note, projected dates are subject to weather and concrete availability.

Drivers are advised to use caution in the area and to take alternate routes to avoid delays.
