Week ending Feb. 11: Three businesses registered in cities found in Russell County

There were three businesses that registered in cities within Russell County in the week ending Feb. 11, according to the Alabama Secretary of State.

This is an increase over the week before, when no licenses were issued.

Hurtsboro registered the most businesses in Russell County.

More than 99 percent of Alabama's businesses are considered small, with more than 47 percent of Alabama's employees working for a small business, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.

A Civic Economics study found $100 spent at a locally-owned business puts $47 back into the local economy while the total is just $13 for non-local businesses.
