AUBURN, Ala.- This summer, the Auburn Public Library invites everyone to embark on the 2023 Summer Safari Learning Challenge (SLC) from June 1 through July 31!

The challenge is simple — read or listen for at least 1,000 minutes during the SLC. That’s just 20 minutes a day. Participants do not need a library card to join the challenge. All ages are eligible to participate. This summer, participants can compete against other age categories for bragging rights for the most minutes read! Our goal is to reach 1 million minutes read overall! The age categories are: infant-5 years, 6-11 years, 12-18 years and 19 and up.

Register at auburnpl.beanstack.org or download the Beanstack Tracker app on any smartphone or tablet. Those who need help registering may stop by the Auburn Public Library for assistance.

Participants may stop by the library at 749 E. Thach Ave. to pick up their registration packets (while supplies last). Those who complete the challenge by July 31 will earn a T-shirt and will be entered into the grand prize drawing! Grand prizes will be awarded in four age categories.

All are invited to attend the Summer Safari Learning Challenge Kickoff on Thursday, June 1, from 5-7 p.m. at the library. Attendees can register for the challenge, enjoy Kona Ice, dance with DJ EST, play games, win prizes and more!

The challenge will wrap up with the Summer Safari Learning Challenge Finale on July 27 from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Boykin Community Center. All are invited to enjoy activities, games and treats from 5-6 p.m., and the event will close out with a Family Story Time from 6-6:30 p.m.

Let’s keep our brains active and make sure we continue learning this summer by reading at least 20 minutes a day. Happy Learning! Find more details about upcoming events on the library’s online calendar. Questions? Email Library Events or call (334) 501-3296.
