Tuskegee University has announced the cancellation of all classes scheduled for Monday, January 26, due to concerns about black ice and below-freezing temperatures in the Macon County area. The decision follows ongoing monitoring of National Weather Service forecasts by university officials.
In a statement, the university said, “Because the safety of the campus community is always the priority, classes will be canceled on Monday, Jan. 26 in anticipation of black ice and below-freezing temperatures.”
Students will still have access to dining services at Tompkins Hall from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., but are advised to limit movement around campus because streets and sidewalks may be hazardous. Both the Skegee Grill and Chick-fil-A locations on campus will remain closed for the day.
While academic activities are suspended, staff members are expected to coordinate with their managers regarding remote work arrangements. Essential personnel, including police officers, cafeteria workers, and facilities employees, should report as usual.
The university stated it will continue to monitor weather conditions and share updates as needed.
