Tuskegee University welcomed more than 1,500 prospective students and their families to its campus for the Spring Open House on March 24. The event aimed to introduce attendees to the university’s academic offerings, student life, and campus traditions.
The Open House is an important opportunity for prospective students and their families to experience Tuskegee University’s environment firsthand. It allows them to explore academic programs and interact with faculty, staff, and current students.
The day began with a welcome from Avery Thomas, president of the Student Government Association for 2025-2026. Attendees also heard remarks from Mr. and Miss Tuskegee, David Larkin and Zion Hunt. Dr. Courtney L. Griffin, Director of Admissions and Recruitment, greeted guests in the University Chapel before Dr. Mark A. Brown, president and CEO of Tuskegee University, delivered an address.
Musical performances by the Golden Voices Choir under Dr. Wayne Barr added to the atmosphere of the morning program. Information sessions were led by Dr. Thierno Thiam, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs; as well as Dr. Rolundus Rice, Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of Student Affairs.
Throughout the day, guided tours took place across various colleges including Arts and Sciences; Architecture; Nursing; Education; Engineering; Business; Agriculture; Environmental Sciences; Nutrition Sciences—all held in their respective halls or auditoriums on campus.
Student life was showcased through entertainment on “the Ave,” featuring performances by NPHC Showcase groups, Golden Tigers Cheerleaders, ROTC Cadets, and the Marching Crimson Pipers band. Visitors also participated in activities such as lunch at Tompkins Hall cafeteria facilities,
tennis matches at Logan Hall courts,
band/choir auditions,
a Financial Aid Hour,
a Student Services Fair,
and a yard party.
