Tuskegee University was recognized with several awards at the 2026 United Negro College Fund (UNCF) National Alumni Council and National Pre-Alumni Council Leadership Conference, held last month in Houston, according to a Mar. 18 announcement.
The recognitions highlight Tuskegee University’s achievements in student leadership, alumni engagement, and scholarship support. The annual event brings together more than 500 students, alumni leaders, representatives from historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), sponsors, and partners to promote leadership development and advocacy for UNCF member institutions.
During the conference, Tuskegee received the George L. Hightower Attendance Award for its delegation of 43 representatives. The university also earned additional recognition for initiatives such as PAC IT UP Pantry and HBCU R.O.D.E.O., as well as alumni honors during the UNCF Legacy Gala. Students from Tuskegee were named Empower Me Tour Merit Scholarship–FedEx winners.
Dr. Mark A. Brown, President and CEO of Tuskegee University, said: “Tuskegee University has entered its Renaissance Era and recognition from the UNCF reflects the power of leadership, service, and excellence working together. From the strength of our alumni and the accomplishments of our students to the impact of our National Pre-Alumni Council, these honors affirm that Tuskegee continues to lead with purpose and prepare the next generation to make a meaningful difference for Mother Tuskegee.”
Other accolades included individual awards for Aja West ’16 as Outstanding Young Alumni Award recipient; Bjana Adams ’05 received Hall of Honor Outstanding Alumni Award; while Dainesha Evans ($2,500), Charles Griffis IV ($2,000), and Jayden Minisee ($2,500) were recognized with Empower Me Tour Merit Scholarships sponsored by FedEx.
Additionally, several Tuskegee representatives were elected or reelected to national leadership roles connected to Project S.T.A.Y., a program supporting graduating seniors’ transition into active alumni status.
