The Tuskegee University School of Education will host a career fair focused on opportunities in K-12 schools for students from all academic backgrounds, according to an announcement on April 9. The event, titled “Career Fair: Opportunities in K-12 Schools for Every Major,” is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 28 in Logan Hall.
The purpose of the event is to show students that careers in education extend beyond classroom teaching and are open to individuals with diverse majors. Organizers say this initiative aims to prepare students for various roles supporting schools and help them connect with potential employers.
“We want to ensure Tuskegee students know that working in education is not limited to teaching in the classroom,” said Dr. Brooke Burks, Dean of the School of Education. “There are roles in information technology, counseling, nutrition sciences, and more. This allows us to introduce our students to school administrators and hear directly from them about career opportunities.”
Tuskegee University has recently entered what it calls its Renaissance Era, which focuses on transformation and expanding opportunities for student certifications, internships, and post-graduation employment.
Dr. Jacqueline Brooks, Assessment and Field Placement Coordinator for the School of Education, said partnerships with multiple school districts will be highlighted at the event: “Our goal is to ensure our students know that education as a profession extends beyond instruction. We build leaders at Tuskegee, and communities around the country need them, regardless of their major.”
