Women’s Basketball Announces 2022 Signing Class

Head coach Trelanne Powell announced the 2022 Tuskegee women's basketball signing class on Thursday, as the program added six student-athletes for the upcoming season.

 

The 2022 signing class features a pair of players with Division I experience in Ashley Primas and Da'Nasia Shaw, along with two junior college transfers in Samaiyah Abdur-Rahim and Mikayla Malik. The class also includes a pair of incoming freshmen in Kei'lley Brown and Kaitlyn Robinson.

Samaiyah Abdur-Rahim I 5-7 I Grand Prairie, Texas I Angelina CC

Abdur-Rahim has played in 60 career games over two years, her first season at Weatherford College and second at Angelina CC. Last season, the guard appeared in 31 games, including ten starts and averaged 8.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and an assist on the year. The year prior, she helped Weatherford to a 22-9 record, posting numbers of 6.9 points, a pair of rebounds and a pair of assists per game as a freshman.

Kei'lley Brown I 6-1 I Birmingham, Ala. I Ramsay HS

Brown played prep ball at Ramsay High School where she helped the Rams to an 18-6 record overall and 6-1 in the region. The 6'1 wing was named to both the 5A Area 10 All-Area and All-Tournament teams as a senior and will add versatility both inside and out for the Golden Tigers.

 

Mikayla Malik I 6-1 I Houston, Texas I Chattahooche Valley CC

Malik played in 38 career games between both Chattahoochee Valley CC and Howard College over the last two seasons. She averaged 8.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game in 21 games for the Pirates last season and 17 games at Howard College.

 

Ashley Primas I 6-2 I Detroit, Mich. I Tennessee State

Primas brings added depth to the Golden Tiger front court, bringing a combined three years of experience to the roster. The 6-2 forward appeared in 52 games for Tennessee State in her first two seasons, and helped Edison High School to a 24-1 record and consecutive Class C Championships in her junior and senior campaigns prior to her time in Nashville.

 

Kaitlyn Robinson I 5-5 I Atlanta, Ga. I Druid Hills HS

Robinson comes to Tuskegee after a four-year prep career at Druid Hills High School. The guard earned First Team All-Region honors in both her junior and senior seasons, while also adding All-County honors her senior year. She also lettered in track for four years.

 

Da'Nasia Shaw I 5-11 I Fort Valley, Ga. I Jacksonville University

Shaw is another guard with length and experience added to the roster, as the 5-10 guard is coming to Tuskegee after three years at Jacksonville University. A native of Fort Valley, Georgia, Shaw averaged 6.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.1 steal per game over her career and was also named Middle Georgia Player of the Year and Regional Player of the Year coming out of Peach County High School.
