AUBURN, Ala.- The Auburn City Council took the following actions at its second meeting in June:
Approved contracts for management services and fiber expansions for the City’s Traffic Control Center. The council approved a three-year subscription for management services associated with the City’s Traffic Control Center for $253,196. In 2022, the City brought all 67 signalized intersections online, where they are monitored daily. The Traffic Control Center provides connectivity, management and operation for all 67 signals, and the software allows for remote access to signal configuration as well as equipment monitoring. Through all the systems in the control center, the City can make signal timing adjustments during interstate closures, sync intersection and corridor systems to improve travel times, analyze peak period traffic volume and make microlevel signal timing efficiency improvements. The Council also approved a contract for $377,622.75 to expand fiber to three signalized intersections, improving the speed and reliability of those connections.
Approved an agreement for the H.C. Morgan Streambank Stabilization Project. The council authorized an agreement to reinforce the streambank at the H.C. Morgan Water Pollution Control Facility in the amount of $62,711.13. The project will mitigate erosion caused over time by heavy rains by installing articulated concrete matting with an underlayment of turf reinforcement mats and a coconut fiber backing. The City also received a grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation that will fund additional needs at this facility.
Approved agreements for lighting at Lake Wilmore. The council approved two lighting services agreements with Alabama Power for the Lake Wilmore Park Community Center Project in the amount of $111,571.96. The agreements include the installation of the underground lighting system for the project site and roadway lighting along Grove Hill Road from the project site to Ogletree Road.
